5 deferments VS 2 (two) tours of duty!
Yep, thats what he said...What the hell does that mean? I didn't know 4 months equaled 2 tours of duty!
I will be absolutely certain to inform my brother, my sister (in reference to her husband) and all of my cousins and friends that did the normal 12-13 months in Viet Nam that they actually did 6-7 tours of duty! But then again, us stable people realize that 12-13 months actually equaled (1) tour of duty.

How can you insult someone who spent 4 months in Vietnam? That's 4 months more than Bush (and his 5 deferments). I'm sick of the Republicans attacking his war record, when Bush has no record to speak of. Way to focus on the issues.
First of all Kerry is the one that made the remark not I...I simply want to know how 4 months equals (2) tours of duty? I don't know your age but I'm going to assume that you didn't experience Viet Nam first hand. Set me straight if I'am wrong.
I grew up in a home that did experience the Viet Nam era and this is what I remember about it..I have a brother that is 3 years older than I..The DAY after he graduated from high school he was on a bus heading for basic training..The draft was in force and these boys went the day, not the next week nor the next month but the day after graduation...My brother-in-law was already there as were many cousins...You need to realize that these were 18 year old kids, who went from school books to battle gear overnight..
Most, as in my brothers case, were more than willing to go fight a war on behalf of their country...Many didn't come home from that war, many came home without limbs, and many returned a psycological wreck!! But, they had done their duty and served their country. They put in their 12-13 months in Viet Nam and were ready to come home to the country they loved. Can you imagine being 19 years old, going through whatever horrors and nightmares these men experienced, and then return to their own land and find it hostile against them?
There were no parades to welcome them home, no big lines of people waiting to shake their hands, they were called war mongers and baby killers. Part of the reason they were called those names, was because of a "swift boat veteran" who in 1971-72 for 18 months, put himself in front of every TV camera he could find to tell the American people that the 500,000 troops in Viet Nam were all villians...I dont have to tell you who that "swift boat veteran" was because you already know who he is!
When John Kerry came on the scene as a major player in this election, 30 years had dimmed my disgust for him and people like Jane Fonda...He's the one that has caused all of his own negative publicity..Calling himself a vietnam hero when 30 yrs. ago he called every American fighting that war a villian...It disgusts me more than I could possibly tell you!
So you go right ahead and vote for this man..I will not be voting for him. But make absolutely certain that you know in your heart that this is the man that you trust to keep us, as a nation, safe!
Well said Cathy! Anon, how can YOU continue to insult 500,000 men that fought in Viet Nam?
